About the Role

TPC Germany GmbH is seeking a qualified Gas & Welding QA/QC Engineer (m/w/d) to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities for industrial gas systems and welding works in semiconductor facility projects.
This role ensures that all bulk gas, special gas, process gas, and utility gas piping systems, as well as associated welding activities, comply with German and EU regulations, applicable PED / EN / ISO standards, and company quality requirements.
The position involves inspection, documentation review, welding and testing supervision, and compliance verification for project acceptance and system handover.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and quality procedures for gas systems and welding activities.
  2. Inspect gas piping and tubing installations, including stainless steel pipes/tubes, fittings, valves, regulators, supports, and labeling, to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards.
  3. Review, control, and manage welding quality documentation, including:
    – Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
    – Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR)
    – Welder qualifications (ISO 9606 / ISO 14732)
    – Welder lists and validity tracking
  4. Witness and document welding activities, including manual and orbital welding, ensuring execution in accordance with approved WPS and qualified ranges.
  5. Witness and document gas system testing, including:
    – Pressure testing
    – Helium leak testing
    – Purging and inerting
    – Moisture and particle testing
    – System integrity and functionality verification
  6. Review and verify P&IDs, isometric drawings, piping layouts, welding details, and support arrangements, including anchor and load-bearing support verification where
    applicable.
  7. Manage incoming inspection of gas system materials and welding consumables, verifying:
    – Material certificates (EN 10204 3.1)
    – PED compliance
    – CE marking (where applicable)
    – Manufacturer documentation
  8. Track and manage Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) related to gas systems and welding works, and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  9. Supervise subcontractors’ QA/QC performance for gas installation and welding works, ensuring compliance with approved procedures, standards, and training requirements.
  10. Support mechanical completion, commissioning readiness, and system handover activities for gas systems.
  11. Prepare inspection records, welding records, test reports, and final documentation dossiers for project acceptance.
  12. Participate in internal audits, client inspections, third-party and notified body audits (e.g. TÜV), verifying alignment between site execution and approved documentation.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in gas system QA/QC and welding inspection within semiconductor, cleanroom, or high-tech industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of stainless steel piping/tubing systems, orbital welding, cleanliness control, and leak-tight installation requirements.
• Hands-on experience with welding inspection and gas system testing, including pressure and helium leak testing.
• Ability to independently prepare, review, and manage QA/QC documentation, WPS/WPQR packages, welder records, NCRs, and test reports.
• Familiarity with PED requirements, material traceability, and EU compliance processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document control systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Practical experience implementing or working under ISO 3834 quality systems.
• Experience dealing with third-party inspectors or notified bodies (NoBo).
• Holder of ISO 9001 Internal Auditor, SCC/VCA, or EHS-related training certificates.
• Prior experience in semiconductor gas distribution systems, cleanroom utilities, or critical process piping.
• Familiarity with German construction acceptance processes (Abnahme, Prüfprotokoll, Übergabe).
• Ability to work effectively in multinational project teams and handle bilingual documentation (English / Chinese).
• Holder of TÜV VT Level II (Visual Testing Level II) certification, qualified to perform welding visual inspection (VT) in accordance with applicable EN / ISO standards.
